Did you know that on average every Dog produce approximately 274 pounds of poop a year?? With approximately 8.9 million Dogs in the UK alone, that means over 267 million bags a month are used and that’s if they only poop once a day!!
Most of us will pick up our Pups Poop & drop it in the nearest bin, cause lets face it that is the easiest way! That does mean though that it can head straight to landfill and depending on the type of bag you use it can take anywhere between 10 - 1,000 years to fully decompose!!
Taking care of our environment is becoming more and more important, but sometimes we just don’t know what’s best!
Lets start by looking at a few thing options that are better for the planet but are time less convenient & could cause damage if not done correctly…
1. Flushing your Pups Poop down the toilet - you’re probably thinking one of two things - ewww gross!! Or well we do it with our so why not?? This option can be very environmentally friendly but it depends on your water suppliers system, as some are not set up to handle the pathogens that are found in pet waste. Make sure to always check with your water supplier before doing this!
2. Composting - Again another option that is great for the environment but its not as simply as it looks & can be quite time consuming. Done wrong any you could end up contamiting your compost. If you’d like to do this option, do your research on the correct method or Find your nearest industrial composters to do it for you!
So what is the most eco-friendly & convenient way to pick up your dogs poop??
If you not able to do any of the more time consuming options, then a doggy poo bin or black bag would be fine, but we recommend…

Compostable Poo Bags
Before you ask no these aren’t the same as Biodegradable Bags & there is a very important difference why one is better than the other!!
Both break down much faster than plastic bags, so using either is helping the environment. However Biodegradable bags have a catch!
Unfortunately Biodegradation is notoriously difficult (and in many cases impossible) in the conditions that landfill provides, because the layers of waste make for an environment without oxygen - those organic breakdown processes can’t take place and when they do they can leave behind micro-plastic particles as they decompose.
Compostable Poo Bags however are slowed down by Landfill, they will decompose completely leaving behind no harmful chemicals. This is why we stock
@Adios_Plastic as they are made 100% from plants,40% Corn-starch, 50% PBAT (a biodegradable random copolymer) and 9.99% edible plant glycerine. All of which are completely compostable and biodegradable materials! Check them our here >>
